I'm using 9.1 as well, since OS 9.2 is supposedly unsupported for booting in the 9600 (and I can't get far enough in OS X to boot/update classic).
I've checked and rechecked the internal SCSI chain. I've tried removing all but the stock CD-ROM and hard drive (and check termination) but it was in vain. I am using the stock processor until I get my G3 upgrade. There is an empty slot (cache?) between the ram slots. Does the 9600/200 have a cache on the processor card? Ramblings are good, they may help. :-) Any other ideas? Thanks, Jason -----Original Message----- My Panther installation took 3.77 GB of an 8 GB partition on my 9500s internal SCSI drive ... maybe your drive isn't big enough? Didn't you say it was 4GB? Where is your OS 9? I use 9.1 and not 9.2 ... and 10.2.8 ran fine on my PowerPC 8500 for a year or more. It seemed to like the 9500 as well. Is your internal SCSI chain terminated properly? OS X is sensitive to this. Hmmm ... does the 9600 have onboard cache? my 9500 has it soldered into the motherboard ... I guess I luck out when I get to CPU Director, and it seems to bypass the onboard cache ... wait a minute ... onboard cache is good since you're using the original processor ... when you upgrade, you'll have a different concern. Just some ramblings about your dilemma ...
