I am using the stock processor until I get my G3 upgrade. There is an
empty slot (cache?) between the ram slots. Does the 9600/200 have a
cache on the processor card?
No, the 512K cache is on the mobo. That must be a ROM slot...? I
suppose if you had a fast enough 1 MB cache DIMM that it might work in
that slot; would it supersede the onboard cache or make one or the
other L3 cache, is what I wonder. IIRC, installing a 1 MB cache in a
system with a G3 upgrade that has 512K cache frequently resulted in one
or the other being used as L3 cache...? It's a real crap shoot kinda
thing -- some G3 upgrades in some systems don't like it when cache
DIMMs are installed.

I can't brag about the shape I'm in - I can't sing, I ain't pretty and
my legs are thin; but don't ask me what I think of you - I might not
give the answers that you want me to. Oh well....
