I have seen serious performance problems on both Beige G3s and pre-G3
boxes when trying to use multiple PCI cards. The PCI bridge on the
Powersurge (pre-G3) boxes like yours was particularly bad, but even the
G3's PCI support was marginal.
I had to quit using the 10/100 ethernet card in my "Beige G4" because
of the competition for the bus between it and video were bad enough it
even hurt mouse movement.
