I swapped in my Tempo Trio; problems went away.
Has Bill checked the Sonnet website for any firmware updates?
Yes ... I checked for current driver version (4.0 I believe).
There's just a conflict with the M-Audio 2496 firmware and Sonnet's
ATA100 firmware.
My 9500 runs fine without the M-Audio ... the ATA100 behaves and the
onboard audio is adequate.
Just when I put the two in the same machine that havoc begins ...
freezes definitely related to a conflict that isn't going to be fixed
... I was hoping to use a later M-Audio driver under Panther, but I
can't even do that ... I had to stop at 1.2.1 ...
I just bought an eBay ATTO PCIS SCSI PSC card, and I hope I can use it
in my 9500 setup instead of the ATA card on my internal SCSI drive ...
if a problem comes up, I'll report back ... it will then be a problem
because of bandwidth ... the M-Audio not willing to share ... and/or
the accelerated data transfers eat up too much of the bus ... something
like that ...
Anyway the M-Audio is "not supported" by M-Audio folks on machines with
cpu upgrades ... so I get no help there ...
I'm discussing this on the Macfixit and xpostfacto forums as well ...
Thanks for your responses.
