Another option could be having a gap between the "Latest and Greatest" version of Revolution and an older version opened under open source say, for instance, 2.5. As upgrades are made to the cutting edge version (Which you would pay for), older versions would be open sourced as well. That way, there would be the Open Source community supporting legacy Revolution and Runrev supporting the cutting edge development of Revolution as we know it.
