If you buy a lot of software, you'll notice that RunRev is more generous
that most companies today with regard to their upgrade window.
While a few years ago it was common for companies to allow a discounted
upgrade within 90-days of the product purchase, but today companies like
Macromedia, Adobe, and other market leaders tend toward a 30-day window.
On a personal note, you'll notice that I changed the name of this thread to
remove the word "extortion". Such emotionally-charged words are not merely
unfair (there is nothing involuntary about making a purchase of a software
product), but more importantly the use of inflammatory terms is
counter-productive to your own goals of having a meaningful, and hopefully
fruitful, exchange. I know we're all pretty stressed after the events of
last week, but let's please try to maintain some professionalism on this
list (I'd hate to see this valuable list degrade into a newsgroup-quality
flame war).
