OK , Thanks . Gimp is an awesome freeware app . I use
XnView , which is also freeware and totally excellent.

For video , I run the avi/mpeg through Vitual Dub ,
them have Vdub export uncompressed .bmp's . Then into
XnView to batch process those .bmp's and then export
as .tga's or .bmp's . Then use PJ-BMP2AVI to export
an uncompressed .avi which goes back into VirtualDUB.

It's very important to expand out into uncompressed
and stay that way until your absolute final encoding .
I use Xvid codec although the very original MS mpeg4
codec was awesome , but not sure if it is still sup-
ported by Win XP .

This is absolute essential advice , and I suppose I
should write a tute' concerning working with video &
Photoshop/Gimp/Realsoft3D/DV video/etc .

Divx has done a lot to advance the high performance
codec situation . but their marketing sucks more &
more & more with every single release . Their spy-
ware version a couple of years ago turned me off for
good .

Seriously ... 4 hours and you have impacted the Real-
soft3D community harder than anything has in the last
12 months (except for Robert denbroeder's incredible
tutorial of course !)
