Hi James
1. Yes, you can upload a ZIP file to the DMS. Right-click on a folder
in the DMS, select "Upload Zip file", select the zip file with your
documents and the zip file will be extracted into the DMS folder.
2. Not as I know. But you could create a small JSP file that prompts
for a local disk folder and reads the content of that folder. A while
ago I did such a script, listed the files with a check box and saved
the checked files in a zip-archive.
3. The DMS can handle these lookup lists. What you typically would do
is use the document's "Meta Data". You could iterate through the DMS
repository and list all the documents. "List the documents" means
displaying the Meta Data (title, subject, description, etc.). Another
approach is to do a search. You can search for documents matching some
criteria. The DMS has paragraphs you can use.
4. Did you check documentation.magnolia.info?
Cheers

I have a hundreds of files I would like to share from the magnolia
document management system (DMS). It is impractical to upload each of
these files one by one into the DMS repository. Furthermore, I don't
want to create a new copy of a file when they already exist in another
directory. I have a few questions any help is appreciated.
1. Is there a way to load several files into the DMS?
2. Rather than uploading files into the DMS is there a way to
configure the DMS to point to a particular directory and merely show
all the files in the directory?
3. All I am really looking for is a way to browse files and subfolders
in a particular directory on my server from a web page. Is the DMS
built to handle this sort of thing or should I try a different
solution?
4. Where is the DMS documentation found? I could only find a few
general pages on the wiki. Is this all that is available?
