Nothing jumps out at me from the code. I would like to create a test case myself that tries to replicate the problem and I will let you know what I find, if anything.
Just a note thought. It is possible that in calling the getDrawingPatriarch() method some image information gets lost or scrambled. Currently, Evgeniy is working on a comprehensive rewrite of the image handling layer and this will not be a problem in the future I would venture, but it could be that the problem lies there. Can I ask you to run a quick test for me please? Do not do the save and re-open; simply insert the two images into your workbook in one go - rather without that save in-between - and see what happens.
