thanks for your hint. I've tried and actually with version 3.8 I succeed in:
*) Inserting an image, saving the file, re-opening the file, inserting a
second image, saving the second file
while I still get a bad result in:
*) Inserting an image, saving the file, inserting a second image, saving
the second file

Yegor and the other developers are always working on fixes and enhancements
and keeping up to date with releases is a good idea if you can (I know that
some organisations have strict control procedures often making this
impractical). The latest version can be downloaded from here -
http://poi.apache.org/download.html#POI-3.8
Not had the time yet to run any tests of my own but I am beginning to
suspect that the intermediate save could well be the issue and that it would
be better to avoid it if you can. If I get similar problems when I run 'my'
tests, then I will let you know. There could, of course be other causes of
the problem and that is what I hope we can identify.
