Hello Mark,
actually if I don't perform the intermediate saving everything works
fine, I can successfully insert many images in the correct positions.
The problem occurs only if I want to save the intermediate file.
I am currently using POI 3.7, do you think upgrading to POI 3.8 could
solve the problem?
Thanks and regards,
Flavio

Nothing jumps out at me from the code. I would like to create a test case
myself that tries to replicate the problem and I will let you know what I
find, if anything.
Just a note thought. It is possible that in calling the
getDrawingPatriarch() method some image information gets lost or scrambled.
Currently, Evgeniy is working on a comprehensive rewrite of the image
handling layer and this will not be a problem in the future I would venture,
but it could be that the problem lies there. Can I ask you to run a quick
test for me please? Do not do the save and re-open; simply insert the two
images into your workbook in one go - rather without that save in-between -
and see what happens.
Yours
