The original version of the code has been used on larger systems than
that, and nothing has changed to reduce its scalability.

Yes, but go with the latest release unless you particularly want
something in the development code.  The Debian packaged version is
pretty broken.

You need to obey the copyright licences if you redistribute it, but that
amounts to providing the source.  You can run it without restriction.

That depends on what support you want and who is willing to provide it.
I assume various consultants would provide support for configuring it,
for instance, and I might contract to make specific changes.
