We solved that by adding a default identity to all users with login
name not matching their address. I know no way to automate this, we
do it by hand.
there is no supported way, i only ask now why is imap auth not used ?

post config.inc.php to get more help, strip comments in it
remove passwords from this file first, its not needed here to be
helpfull helping more
