Was going to ask the same Qs. Since moving to most recent NB 11.x and an up to date OpenJDK (8 or 13/14), high DPI usage seems to work fine without me doing any special tweaks that I can remember. In fact I flip-flop between 2 laptops, one with high DPI and one without, and I don't really make any machine specific settings to the NB install & config that I sync between them. -R
