Jim, Thanks a lot! I have a cooler under the laptop, but it's not very effective. I'll probably build one using real case fans and some wood. HP also gives directions for cleaning the fans and remounting the cooler. Would be nice to have a backup computer first.
In the meantime, I tried downloading Apache Open Office 4.1.2, from http://sourceforge.net/projects/openofficeorg.mirror/?source=typ_redirect It has failed to download twice. I speak English, didn't bother with the language packs, just clicked download. Must be my lucky day/bad internet?
