I agree that you would not want to receive duplicates of every message on a mailing list, but when the message is directed to you as part of an ongoing thread, Reply All makes it easier to keep track of replies within threads that you are participating in. Otherwise, it is very easy to miss portions of an ongoing debate or discussion due to the amount of other traffic on the average mailing list. In addition, Reply All insures that people who post to mailing lists that allow unsubscribed email addresses to post (this one being a prime example) will receive the replies that you write in response to their queries or remarks. It seems a waste of everyone's time to write responses to someone who will never actually see what you wrote.
