OK I think I'm on top of this situation....(see headers) I added "X-Archive: encrypt" header to my newsreader so my email adr is encrypted by Gmane (that was what I wanted to do so my adr wasn't 'published' to the massses) Now (if this works) I can send via Gmane to any of their linked groups & NOT get any auto e-mails/spam/etc (unless someone specifically replys to the msg.... that's OK by me & I don't have to review hundreds of msgs to find a valid one). Of course I'll now need to throw out the adr that WAS published already.... Really, Thanks for all your helps, people Greg
Sorry but this sounds overly complex to me. Just pick a new address, say on Gmail. Point your news reader at Gmane and tell it about the Gmail address. Post a *news* item from the address so that Gmane starts its registration process; go through the process to get the address registered with Gmane. Now in Gmail create a filter automatically to delete any and all mail to the address. No need to insert headers or to encrypt anything or ... This will even kill those who reply to the address instead of to the news group or e-mail list.
