Sure looks like a bug to me! I even added several paragraphs under the
internal table in cell A1 and moved the cursor to a middle one of the
paragraphs, and it still acted as you described (I'm using WinXP, OOo
2.3.1). As long as cell A1 doesn't have an internal table, the selection
works fine, even with the cursor in the empty paragraph created under an
internal table in another cell. It also works if there's a paragraph
(even an empty one) before the internal table in cell A1, but not in
other cells. This is not as easy to accomplish as I'd expect, though.
Hitting Enter while at the beginning of cell A1 in a table generally
inserts an empty paragraph before the table, but not if the table is
internal to another. As a workaround to avoid having to fully delete the
table in A1, you can convert it to text and then back to a table.
