> I am looking to buy a new laptop. Any suggestions? Are you looking for a cheap one, a nice one? Are you going to use it to compile, play games? For better responses, we could use some more info. That notwithstanding though, I have an HP ze1210, which is the cheapest one I could find 5 months ago (approx. $1000). I would recommend an HP, they have a good track record with linux. They also have linux specific forums at their support website. They do tend to run hot under linux, though. So if this will be used for more than what a typical use a CS student needs, you may want to look elsewhere, or make sure you give it plenty of ventilation. Other than that though, I have gentoo installed on my laptop and all the hardware works.
