I'm currently keeping an apartment network up and running to share one DSL connection between the 8 of us in my apartment. One guy continually abuses the setup, using up nearly all our bandwidth with a file share client.
Right now we're just un-hooking him from the network when things get too congested. I'd like to have some sort of way to limit the bandwidth he uses instead. My linksys wireless router won't do it, so I'm looking at setting up an old P60 running linux to take care of it. The problem is, I don't have any experience with software that will allow control over individual machines bandwidth usage. Any suggestions on what I should/could use?
