Are we as a student body irresponsible?

Well, yeah, the apostles think so. I had a teacher who was the Dean of Students a while back and while he was Dean he, with whoever the president was at the time, drafted a proposal to revise the Honor Code so that it would be more "Spirit of the Law" than "Letter of the Law". They presented it to the Board of Trustees and it was approved in that meeting (hooray!). So the Dean and the President went back to the president's office to celebrate and just as they got in one of the apostles calls and says that as president and with the approval of the board he can go ahead and make the proposed changes to the Honor Code, but he'd prayed about it and felt strongly that the students were not prepared to be given that much trust and bad things would happen if the Code were changed.

I know, that sounds like a story I heard some old guy tell, and it
was, but he was the Dean and was in the room when the call came.

From the sound of it, it's not so much that the apostles don't
trust us, but that the Lord doesn't. At least, that's how I see it
when an apostle prays and feels strongly about something.

I totally agree.
