And RedHat's installer isn't full of advertising for all RedHat's
non-free products and services? Comparing Mandrake to NetZero is a bit
premature (though I did use netzero back when the adds weren't too
obnoxious and they really did give you decent dial-up service for free,
if not Free). If it costs the two companies some money to produce a
more user friendly version of Linux (as opposed to say, Debian, or the
new Stallman favorite GNU/Linex) then let them recover those costs in a
not-too-annoying manner. I love watching TV and listening to the radio
and letting advertisers pick up the cost. Most websites have banner
adds to help them re-coup the costs of operation[1] so they can provide
me with some awesome free services. As long as it doesn't get too
annoying I don't mind a few adds at all. Please don't act like this is
some act of heresy that has tainted Mandrake and branded them unworthy
of the GNU forever (freakin' high and mighty saints of the Church of
Emacs :).

1. To name a few, sourceforge, slashdot, debian.org has a little "visit
the site sponser" add, www.kernel.org has little adds for transmenta,
hp, and a couple others.
