The camera that I have come across quite often is the Canon A70. It gets great reviews, does video (and audio, some cams dont), is under $300, 3.2 MP, is a great entry level camera however it has great manual controls for the experienced. Many people will describe how it has a whitebalance problem, however most digital cameras do; with the A70, you can quickly change to manual modes that will adjust for you lighting type. Matt W. PS the A80 (4MP) has just come out.
