Has anyone ever given their wife or grandma a *Windows* CD and wished
them luck? Probably not, because Windows comes preinstalled on most
machines that are sold out there. I doubt very many people would be
able to install and configure Windows, even with all the wizards and
such. I've had other developers ask me to help them install and
configure Windows. It's not as simple as some would imagine.

My wife finally had me install linux on her laptop after "That piece of Junk Windows thing" gave her enough headaches. She loved it. Maybe she wouldn't be able to install it on her own, but she wasn't able to install Windows either.

My brother got off of his mission, got a laptop and when to work on it (He's not a computer guy, like really not a computer guy.) He couldn't get his ethernet to work so I gave him redhat 8, and said "try this". He installed it himself, loves it, and now has been using linux for over a year, no problems. He's never called me, not once for help. It "just works" for him. On the other hand I'm getting calls all the time from my other brother who uses XP. He gets so frustrated.
