soren, i hope you are not implying that my statements about moore are not
valid because i haven't seen his most recent film.

just to clarify - when i said "making stuff up" it was another way of saying
"being intellectually dishonest" which is a nice way of saying "lying".

heck, i could care less if people are "biased" - i think that's fine because
*everyone* is biased in some way. "roger and me" was certainly /biased/,
but i didn't discern any flat out lies or manipulative distortions. i
thought it was a good film.

bowling for columbine was when michael moore "jumped the shark" so to speak.
i was very disappointed with this film because it was more than just simply
biased. he fabricated things and made the audience believe they were true
in order to manipulate them. i agree with jayce's statement comparing
michael moore to ed decker. ed decker's *bias* isn't the problem with ed
decker.

and as for your opinions about the news media - yep, they are all biased on
all sides. it's just the way it is. not such a big deal. (btw - "bias" by
bernard goldberg is a great read) - but again, michael moore's *bias* isn't
the problem with michael moore.

also, soren, i don't mean to pick on you, but since you responded to my
comments, i'll ask: dont you think michael moore is just a *mean* person?
have you seen bowling for columbine? is f911 the only moore film you have
watched? have you read his books?

This is an interesting statement I've heard many, many times about Michael
Moore's films, especially F911. Just out of curiosity, how many people here
*have* seen F911? If you don't want to admit it to the group, just email me
off list. I'd be interested to see.

I saw F911, enjoyed it a lot, and thought it was a very good film. Sure,
some of his conclusions are a bit of a stretch, but the fact that some of
the footage he uses even exists hints that he's on to something.

The reason I don't have serious issues with Moore's bias -- despite the fact
that I'm no fan of Bush either -- is that he's at least blatant and honest
about it. Too many other media sources (::cough::foxnews::cough::) are
similarly biased, but nevertheless make pretenses about being unbiased.
Moore may or may not be manipulative and dishonest about his conclusions,
but at least he isn't dishonest about his objective: to bring Bush down.
The pro-Bush media may or may not be manipulative and dishonest about their
conclusions, but they *are* dishonest about their objective: to parrot the
party line and keep everyone else doing the same.
