I've always found it somewhat humorous that people buy Apple laptops

ripping out the Italian Leather seats to put in crocheted bench seats.
The only thing sillier is buying an Apple laptop to run Windows.
That's like taking your Maserati and putting in the interior of a Ford
Pinto and the engine of a Geo. :)

Are you trying to say that Mac OS X is decidedly better than Linux? You
must be joking.

Are you saying that Linux is decidedly better than OS X? But, to actually answer your question, I am saying it is decidedly better at some things, yes. Anything in the iLife suite (except perhaps iTunes) has no program under Linux that is as easy to use or as powerful (or at least not the last time I looked, which was about a year ago).

I like OS X pretty well, but it has a number of
significant weaknesses.

And what would you consider those to be? I have a few of my own in mind, but I'm just curious.

I hate Windows, but I'm willing to admit that
it is better than Linux and Mac OS X for many people.

If I use my car for commuting, I shouldn't get a semi truck. If I'm
trying to ship goods, your Maserati is almost completely useless.

Interesting, so some operating systems are better for certain purposes? What a novel concept?

Use what does what you need or want. For me that almost always means
use Linux, sometimes means use OS X, and occasionally means use Windows.

For me, that almost always means OS X, sometimes means Linux, and the only time I fire up Windows is to test a web site in IE or use WordPerfect. :)

P.S. One time in high school I mentioned to a co-worker that I had
converted someone to Linux. His response was, "Don't you have more
important things to convert people to?" He was kidding, but it's a good
point.

That is. Which is why this wasn't a statement to try and convert anyone to OS X or convince them not to use windows.
