It's not a freedom from, it's a freedom to. Freedom to do whatever I want with the software on my general purpose computing device. Whatever you may say, to me a computer is a tool and I want the perfect freedom to do whatever I want with that tool. I'm sick of this world of over restrictive virtual monopolies that threaten ridiculous legal retribution for trespassing some foul, moribund piece of "intellectual property" because in the end human creativity is not about invention, it's about discovery. Anyone with a grain of sense can reflect upon this our singular place in this fantastic Universe and ponder whether our neat inventions (and our protectionism) advances the cause of progress or of knowledge any measure.
