Well, I won. That's cool. I just thought that I'd let you all know
that I want to make this one of the best years the UUG has ever had. I
was in favor of frequent meetings--and in having each meeting be a group
effort. I'm gonna talk with Jon (your new webmaster) about getting
something up on the site to make this work well.

I'd also just like to thank all those who voted. I don't know when this
takes effect (or if it has already), but I intend to get right to work.

Here's some things I'd like to do, that I'd like your opinion on:
Changing it from uug-list and newbie-list to uug-list and social-list.
The newbie-list is quite unused, and I, for one, don't mind if someone
posts a very basic-level question to the uug-list. I do, however, think
that it'd be nice to have a separate list where we can post topics that
are less technical in nature--and more socially oriented. e.g.
election/club business, discussing how the webpage should look, or FOSS
Philosophy.
The alternative plan, on this, is to do nothing, or drop the newbie
list altogether.
Second: I'd like to setup a booth and have an install-fest within the
first week of every term. Anyone who would be willing to spend some
time at this booth explaining the wonders of Unix-based software (and
possible showing off compiz or some other eye-candy type software from
their laptop), please make it known. This would be really easy to do if
we had a lot of participation.
Third: I want to setup a few tools that are more geared toward the
social side of the UUG. This would include public profile pages (that
hopefully link to your own website/blag), and I'd also like to have a
page that lists some of the open source projects that people are working
on, and links to them (like Smug with Andrew).
Fourth: Once I get the email from Peter--I'm gonna post the potential
topics list for next year on the list. I'd like to ask everyone to add
to it, express concerns about a specific topic, or +1 a topic that you
really want to hear. I'm gonna use these suggestions and feedback to
plan out our meetings. My goal is to let everyone know what we'll be
meeting on three months in advance (Ideally, I'd like to just plan out a
whole semester/term at a time).

If anyone else has any ideas, please, post them to this thread.
