I've been monitoring PiTiVi for a long time now, playing with it after
each release. I agree that is the best long term source of hope for
Linux users.

It has reached the point where it could be used to create a simple
screencast without too much pain. Doing real video editing is still a
long way off. A year from now is being optimistic unless more people
begin to contribute.
