Seconded!

A nice reflash to the newest version and a wipe of all the settings (don't
allow it to copy the settings over from the old fw) can do wonders in
improving stability.

Also, depending upon the model and your location for it, those suckers can
get mighty hot, which can cause instability, especially with heavy use and
dd-wrt (which is admittedly a bit bloated). I discovered that simply placing
my router outside the rat's nest of cords and other electronics under my TV
did wonders for it not crashing.
