I believe it is related to the auto-display features, where the
control tries to make sure the field is actually completely visible,
just for you. As such, the randomness you see is related to the
total number of rows and visible rows, and should be relatively
consistent with equal values.

That said, are you running the latest VB SP & runtimes?
