Hi Matt and Shawn,
I am using VB6 as the application. The Access 97 DB, is just a DB
Who would build UI into a DB ?, (OOPS, millions of Access developers)
I'm using ADO and "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0"
I know that that 3.51 may be a bit faster, but there was some reason
(memories ?) that I went 4.0
There are only two users testing at the moment so it is not an 'overload'
issue, etc.
If I took time to learn alternate DB stuff, the remaining portions of the
project would take toooooo loooong.
The remaining portions are already going to take a long enough time.
Matt, the LBD suggestion sounds interesting.
My plan was (if all the experts in the world died), to create 'chirp' code.
I was either going to have an exe on the Server 'chirping' (connecting every
couple of minutes).
or
Build 'chirp' code into each of the vb pgms on the user's PCs.
The latter would have taken some thinking as I wouldn't want those'chirps'
creating other problems.
Following your suggestion I will try creating an EXE for the server, and
first try your continuous connection.
(My fear of corruption when the network hiccups, shouldn't be a problem as
the connection is local on the server ?)
If it still keeps 'dozing off', I will convert that exe to get it
'chirping'.
Thanks guys(and girl), for your feedback.
