The new machine is:
Motherboard: Gigabyte X58-USB3
Memory: 12 gig DDR3
CPU: Intel 3.06 gig i7-950 Socket LGA1366 8 cores I think
Power Supply: Antec 1,200 watts
Software: Ubuntu 64 bit server version 10.10. No gui.
The basic machine runs Ubuntu Server 10.10. That runs on the first
partition 32 gig.
The second partition is swap.
The third partition is /home
This is very large and contains the various vdi modules.
So the disk looks like this:
/ Ubuntu Server 10.10
swap
/home
/home/.virtualbox the actual VBox software
/vdi
/vdi/module1
/vdi/module2
etc
Does the above disk layout make sense?
Could it be improved?
