It's possible to manage virtualbox without GUI, but doing so is very
difficult - I'm no sure one can *create* a new virtualbox like this.
If you have absolutely to do so look in the doc about VNC interface
(open source version) or the proprietary version (I don't remember the
protocol name, not VNC)
But managing a new virtual machine with the gui is nearly mandatory,
so better install one (any, the simpler the best, for example
windowmaker). After that when youn launch VirtualBox, you get a clean
easy to understand interface.
You need the GUI only for creating the virtualbox with a guest and
configure the guest network. After that you can stop the GUI and run
VirtualBox from console scripts (I'm exactly doing so myself)
