That's what I'm doing now: TAP on my Linux machine so my W2K Guest O/S can
get out.
At the moment my W2K can network browse just like any other machine on my
network.
My good (networking) friend just came by to my office (Nortel dude) and he
affirmed my idea:
- setup a static IP internally for the guest O/S
- use NAT'ing on the host O/S
The above will give me the independence from the host O/S IP: static IP or
dynamic (DHCP).
I just need to implement it (tonight?)

I haven't tried anything on Windows but based on what Octavio said, it seems
there's a solution on Windows too.
I suspect there are many ways to solve the problem and each has its own
'faults'
