Don't have the bobbin hanging directly below the hook, have the thread straight out from the hook similar to the way the Nor vise is setup, w/ the bobbin closer to your chest instead of off to the right. It might be a little more awkward, but it would make finishing the weave easier. Think of it as though the hook shank extended out beyond the eye; you're crossing under the thread the same way you're already crossing under the hook. J
