I use heavy duty pliers and is smashes the bar down with no problems at all. I have pliers on a multi-tool, and it fits nicely into my vest pocket. The pliers there are great. I guess you could use regular tool box pliers too...

I need to de-barb some of my barbed hooks to fish in special regulation areas here in PA. It's tough to mash the barbs down with my regular fishing pliers. Anyone have any tools, tips or tricks to get the barbs mashed down or removed from barbed hooks at streamside?
