I have a small set of pliers that I got at Ace Hardware, that doesn't have any ridges on the jaws - just flat and smooth. These will flatten the barb quickly and efficiently. Try your hardware, Home Depot or Lowes.

I need to de-barb some of my barbed hooks to fish in special regulation areas here in PA. It's tough to mash the barbs down with my regular fishing pliers. Anyone have any tools, tips or tricks to get the barbs mashed down or removed from barbed hooks at streamside?
