Got some pliers like Jimmy describes, too. One pair
for the stream and another at the bench. When I'm
tying I always mash the barb before I do anything
else, nothing's a bigger PIA than mashing the barb on
a finished fly (or one you just tied on) and have the
point break off because the metal was too brittle.
Haven't had it happen real often, but a few times.
