I was taught to really secure dumbell eyes (which we really need to do in saltwater flies)
is to make about 4 wraps going in one direction before you switch or cross over. ie
don't make full figure 8's right away only a few half 8's.... then the other half ....then full eights.
Then go underneath like others have stated.
And yes, Zap a gap (super glue gel)is a good finisher.

I think this is also how they taught me to figure skate but that's another story.

Hi Everyone,

I'm currently tying a pattern with mono dumbell eyes.
For the life of me I can't seem to securely stabilize
them without seemingly excessive wraps.

I've tried all sorts of wrapping methods but the eyes
still rotate around the hook. Even the figure 8
doesn't work for me.

Any tips to secure the eyes in only a few wraps?

Thanks in advance,
