The punches I use most often are my half inch and 3/4 inch.  The 3/4 inch allows me to 
turn shapes like hula pooppers and mice. I then just use the sanding drum from my 
dremel, mounted in my drill press, to sand a flat for hook clearance.

If you have a 1/2 inch chuck as I do in your drill press, ship the ones to me that do 
not fit into the chuck and I will turn down an arbor for you.  Unless of course you 
know a machinist locally that can do it.
