Lisa, what kind of camera equipment do you have right now? Do you have
a digital camera? Do you have a webcam for your computer? What kind of
videoblogs do you want to make?

You can make a videoblog without a camera, using photos you've taken,
for instance and clipping them together as a video. Or screencast a
recording of your desktop.

A lot of digital cameras also have a video feature-- mine takes 7 1/2
minutes of video on a 512 MB card. It was about $300; I could buy a 1
GB card for 15 minutes of video for another $100.

I moblog using the video feature in my cell phone. Cell phone: $250,
plus the cost of monthly service. Videos are small and kind of grainy,
and limited to 30 seconds at a time, but I can vlog with them.

For my main vlog, I use a 5 year old Sony Handycam that uses Digital 8
tapes. Go Digital 8! Never had trouble with the camera quality, though
I will someday afford myself a tiny DV camera.

So, when you ask how to get what you need, the question comes back:
what do you want to do? Figure that out, and then you can decide what
you really need.
