Dear Lorraine,

If it's a one-time use, often a negotiation with the distributor will
provide a lower rental fee -- especially if you talk with them on a
continued basis. Or even being conversational with them just once.

Edith Kramer of the Pacific Film Archive had a technique of just talking
for as long as it took to get the price she needed. She was a great
conversationalist AND she knew that sooner or later the booker would be
anxious to get to other bookings. Then again, there's only one Edith.

Best regards,
Dennis Doros

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
