The 3400c required special versions of 7.6 and 7.6.1. You cannot, therefore, boot the machine from just any CD or floppy of the system 7.6 software. I have just been through this with a 2400c (technologically very similar to the 3400c), and so it is all fresh in my mind. There is even a special updater to 7.6.1 from 7.6 available for download on Apple's support servers, specific to the 3400c. The standard system updater doesn't work.(It's the same with the 2400c; the 3400c updater, however, works on the 2400c: thus I have been there, & done that.)
"Open me" I have never heard of, either. However, a thought springs to mind: is there anything in the Trash? Maybe everything was dragged there but the files not deleted. That would be worth confirming. In this case, the space would indeed be 'occupied' on the drive but there would be nothing showing up in the Finder. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Vintage Macs group.
