I've got to decide what to do with an SE/30 that doesn't work anymore

The really cool video adapter for the SE/30 was the Raster Ops 264-SE,
which gave 24-bit color. There was a similarly-named board which gave
the same to a NuBus Mac.
Both supported the then-standard High Definition RGB Trinitron monitor,
the one which was fixed resolution.
The really really cool video adapter for the SE/30 was the Micron card
(I think it's the XCEED card the OP has) that provided grayscale on the
SE/30s screen. If anything the Micron card is an even better find today
as putting 24 bit color on an external monitor is no big deal while
putting gray scale on an SE/30 is a big deal.
