Daniel, if I estimated a vintage Mac in my collection at $700 (which I have, by the way), I would certainly never ponder dumping it in the recycling bin for the mere sake of freeing space!
I myself have searched EBAY and other online sources for years, searching for a functional SE/30 grayscale card setup that wouldn't cost me a fortune. My main intent is to get practical use out of it, being able to view more content than before on my internal screen. I've seen about 5 of these go on sale over the last 6 years. All of them went for astronomical prices. They were so high in fact that my wife would have had my head if I ever had bid on them. I don't mean to upset anyone by saying this, but I have a mild disdain for "private" collectors who keep all these valuable old Macs in a closet or glass case and never share with the vintage computing community. In contrast, I prefer to post public photos of my collection and participate actively in forums such as this one and the 68kMLA. That in no way makes me better than anyone else. I simply get a lot of enjoyment from sharing. Some of my SE/30 photos can be found on Flickr here: http://www.flickr.com/search/?w=66071596%40N00&q=se%2F30&m=text I long for the day I can post some photos of grayscale on that screen! Daniel, if the cost is "down to earth" and "realistic" for a vintage Mac lover and family man such as myself, I would certainly be interested in saving your XCeed setup from the recycling bin. Cost is what it boils down to. Sincerely, James Wages Aichi-ken, Japan
