Again, my idea was to merge the nostalgia of the Apple II with the love
of the 68k macs in these LC type units that have the Apple IIe card.

Really, I think the nostalgia factor will work in your favor far more than trying to sell them as "useful" computers. Get 7.5.5 or something running on them, get the Apple II cards going, maybe pick up some actual Apple II disk drives and joysticks, and then find a couple popular Apple II forums on the web and post in the For Sale sections. Talk them up as a great alternative to tracking down actual Apple IIs for hobbyists, maybe something for folks to use with their kids instead of a "real" Apple II, and some of the advantages it has over a standard setup. If you're feeling particularly generous, track down some copies of popular Apple II software and include it. This is probably your best bet for getting any money out of it. With brand new computers being so dirt cheap now, I think you'd have a hard time getting what you're thinking out of it. Maybe $20 for the box, $30 or $40 tricked out with accessories and some software.

I wouldn't bother with monitors; shipping for them would quickly eat up any gains made by selling them.

Just my two cents :)
