Is the machine totally dead, or it just turns on with a blank screen?

The original power bricks had issues where they would short out the
power section (there was a recall). There is a fuse on the main board
close to where the battery connects that might have blown, you can
also look for a hot/melted transitor on the bottom of the main board.

If the unit does bong and you don't get anything on the screen that
could be from a wripped video cable (are the hinges loose?) or the
capacitors on the dualscan LCD screen are going bad (they will need to
be replaced).

You need some torq bits to get into these machines (4 screws at the
bottom of the case, and one in the rear by the I/O ports).

I just got in a model 140 with a bad screen (used the parts to fix my
170).
