Alas, the SE FDHD that I've gotten my hands on has two floppy drives and
no internal hard drive (and also no floppy boot disks, which is a bit of
a pain).
Anyway, I am thinking of two possibilities now:
-- an external hard drive (to bootm from). However I'm not sure which
and what drive to get . I'd prefer an Apple branded external drive but I
can't seem to find any (apart from eBay though the drive is located in
US - somewhat expensive shipping!). I am not sure what other external
SCSI drives might work - any ideas? I'd actually seen the website that
Chris sent, but it doesn't seem to give any concrete ideas about the
type of external SCSI drive that I should be looking for (eBay is not
much help either, as there are very few sub-200 MB SCSI HD drives on
there, either internal or external).
-- an external ZIP drive (to boot from). I've looked through what needs
to be done, and it seems fairly simply (apart from making sure the
driver partition of the ZIP disk is formatted to the correct version). I
have an some old PowerMac G3s lurking somewhere which I'm sure must have
a ZIP drive on - and thus could be used to transfer data.
If anybody has any suggestions (or pitfalls/advice) then I'd appreciate
any advice for anything I hadn't thought of, or your own experience. Or
if anybody knows where I could get a quick and cheap System 6/7 floppy
disk from that would be great (the only device I have with a floppy disk
is some Dell PC with Windows on which I think would be a problem when
formatting the disk due to different filesystems.
Thanks for your help - any contributions of ideas would always be
