I've now installed a retail copy of 7.5 but it does the same thing. Very oddly,
when I was running 7.0.1 "About This Macintosh" said its was a IIci. Now it
only says "Macintosh" with the generic Picasso icon. I zapped PRAM but no
change. I imagine if it doesn't know what kind of Macintosh it is it can't
effectively now how to handle a Shut Down.

I am not able to power the computer off this way, but this is one where you can
latch the power button in so that it restarts on shutdown so I'm not sure if
that functionality works on the IIci.

This is quite similar to how mine behaved before I recapped it, though mine was
at a point where it wouldn't power up no matter what you did.

I'm going to check this better tomorrow. I have done point-to-point checks on
most of the IC pins (UB13, UD13, and UE13) and I haven't found anything amiss.

In addition, I have noticed a new issue. The power key on the keyboard does
nothing within the OS. Apple-Control-Power does not restart the machine,
Apple-Power does not interrupt, and the power key by itself does not bring up
the shutdown dialog box. A friend suggested the IIci, being an early ADB Mac,
may not have the interrupts for this stuff in place, and I can't remember if
they used to work or not.

Also, off topic, I apologize if "merging" the replies as I've done here is
frowned upon or bothersome. If so, someone let me know and I'll stop. :-) Its
been a long time since I've been active on mailing lists or Usenet and I can't
remember what the convention is.

Regards,
Ryan
